Toor Dal Fry / Dali Thove/ Togari bele saru

This recipe can be made out of moong dal too. Infact, moong dal was the only kind of dal given to sonu until he was 2 ! Since they are relatively easy to digest. He is now 2+ , so i am now introducing Toor dal /Togari bele.


Toor dal is an healthy source of dietary fiber, which can help to prevent constipation. It contains folic acid, an important vitamin for all women, especially those planning to become pregnant. Folic acid is essential for fetal development and can help to prevent neural tube birth defects such as spina bifida. Getting adequate amounts of folic acid in your diet can help to reduce specific brain and spinal cord birth defects


  • 1 katori toor dal
  • 1 green chilly slit
  • small bunch coriander leaves
  • a pinch of turmeric
  • salt to taste

To Temper :

  • 2 tspn ghee
  • 1 tspn mustard seeds
  • 3-4 garlic
  • a pinch of hing (asfoetedia)


Wash toor dal thoroughly.Add toor dal + green chilly + coriander leaves + turmeric + salt and pressure cook for 3 whistles. Transfer it to vessel 

  Temper : Add ghee to a pan , add mustard seeds, allow it to sputter , crush and add garlic + hing, sauté for 1 min
