Lady’s Finger / Bindi Raitha

Is your kid constipated? Then here is a quick recipe for him/her which helps relieve constipation. Half a cup/katori of bindi/okra everyday keeps his bowel intact.

Tip :

Okra fiber is excellent for feeding the good bacteria (probiotics). Okra is a supreme vegetable for those feeling weak, exhausted, and suffering from depression. It helps control blood sugar as it curbs the rate at which sugar is absorbed from the intestinal tract. Half a cup of cooked Ladys finger provide nearly 10% of the recommended levels of vitamin B6 and folic acid. It treats lung inflammation, sore throat, and irritable bowel.

Ingredients:

  • 7-10 Bindis
  • 1 cup curd

To Temper:

  • 1/2 tspn mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tspn urad dal
  • 3-4 curry leaves
  • 1 dry red chilly

Method:

Wash and wipe the bindi with a clean cloth (or it will become very sticky).Chop off the crown and cut the rest of the bindi into small round pieces

In a pan add little oil and add bindi , shallow fry until it is cooked well. Keep aside

Now temper it with mustard seeds+urad dal+curry leaves+ red chilly

Finally mix with curd and serve immediately. Do not keep the bindis soaked in curd for long
