Field marrow curry / Moge Ambat in konkani

This vegetable has several names : Lemon cucumber /lemon cuke / Field marrow. Not sure which is the right one though. This recipe can be prepared with a mix and match of vegetables of your kids choice.

Tip:

Field marrow has an impressive amount of water and are a great way to Cool Down Your Body.

Ingredients:

  • 8-10 pieces of Field marrow/moge
  • 8-10 pieces of carrot [ or any vegetable of your choice]
  • 1/4 cup grated coconut
  • 1/4 cup chopped onions
  • 1 tspn coriander seeds
  • 2 tspn toor dal
  • 1 red chilly
  • 1 tspn of tamrind paste
  • 1/2 tspn mustard seeds
  • a pinch of turmeric

Method:

Boil all the vegetables + Toor dal in a cooker. Keep aside

Grind together coconut + coriander seeds + red chilly + tamarind paste + turmeric to a fine paste

In a thick bottom pan, heat oil, add mustard seeds and wait until it sputters.Add onion and sauté until golden brown

Add ground paste to this, add required amount of water  and bring to boil.Finally add boiled veggies and cook for an other 5 mins
