Rice Roti / Akki Roti

Akki roti is common breakfast snack of karnataka, quick to make and tastes delicious. Akki as in Rice, Akki roti is made from rice flour. It is low in saturated fat, cholesterol and sodium.

 Ingredients:

  • 1 cup rice flour
  • 2 cups of water
  • 1 tspn of ghee
  • salt as per taste

 

Method:                                                                                                                                                                      

Take a thick bottom pan, add water, ghee and salt and bring it to boil.Lower the flame and add rice flour while stirring continuously until the rice flour starts to form solid mass                            Remove from heat . At this point rice is half cooked.Smear your palms with ghee and make medium size balls while the mixture is still hot

                              Now roll it out to make a round shape. I have the roti pressing machine (refer to the picture below)which helps me make neat round rotis

Spread oil over griddle and cook on both sides until the roti turns golden brown
