Steamed Nendra Bale / Steamed Raw Banana

Nendra Bale is a kind of Bannana that is widely used in Kerala.I am surrounded by kerala nieghbours.I get to learn a lot of recipes from them especially all the home remedies for commonly occuring constipation and stomach upset issues in infants. This was one of the recipes i tried when my little one seemed constipated and this helped!

Tip:

  • Nendra Bale is rich in potassium. It also contains other minerals such as calcium, iron, magnesium and phosphorus in large quantities.
  • It is also rich in fibers making it a useful laxative and good for easing constipation.

Ingredients:

  • Nendra bale large – 1
  • 2 tspn of ghee for coating

Method:

Peel off the outer skin and cut into smaller pieces. Remove the black seeds (these black seeds are hard to digest.).Coat these pieces with ghee and Steam it for about 4-6 mins (depends on how ripe the bananas are)

Allow it to cool and then serve. You could either mash it along with a little milk and serve it like kheer or let the kid enjoy a bannana lolipop like my son does :-)
