Sweet Stuffed Chapati

Kids are kids ! They always want something different. This time my son came saying ” I dont want plain chapati” ! And I really feel guilty to just add some Jam/butter/ghee-sugar and get done with it. So this time I tried something very new for him. This I remember eating it from my Mangalore friends lunch box, I don’t recall the exact recipe though.

  To make soft dough

  • 1 cup wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup curds
  • salt to taste

For filling

  • 1/2 cup grated coconut
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 3 tspn of white til seeds(sesame seeds)

Take a thick bottom pan, dry roast the til seeds. Keep aside                                 To the same pan add little ghee and roast grated coconut for 2 mins. Add sugar and sauté  until it dissolves. Add  roasted til seeds and mix well. Divide the filling into equal portions and keep aside

In a bowl add wheat flour + curd + salt. Knead it well to make soft dough and divide into equal portions

Roll out one portion of the dough into a small circle                              Place the prepared filling in the center of the dough and seal tightly (three-fold it as shown in the picture)                                Roll out again into a bigger dimension with the help of a little flour                             Cook the chapathi on a tava (griddle), using a little ghee until both sides are golden brown
